This Estate was the home of the late Robert J. (Bob) Filberg and his wife Florence (McCormack). Master builder William Hagarty supervised the building of the Lodge, which commenced with the clearing of the land in 1929. The Filberg family lived there for many years developing the grounds and several unique outbuildings. After Filberg's death in 1977, the lodge was made a public facility.
Visitors to this park can take the steep path down to the beach for a chance to spot a seal or two. If that gets tiresome, there are several rugged hiking trails that will weave park-goers through the scenic forest. The park also features an outhouse and a campground.
Goose Spit Park is a flexible sand spit fed by the Willemar Bluffs and is a Class I recreational beach. Amenities include picnic tables, road access with parking, and toilets. Goose Spit offers waterfront scenic views, rare plants and wildlife. Pet leashing is required.
